Acts 20:35

"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Rescuing Special Angels

While I have been involved in special needs adoption for a long time, it hasn't been until recently that I have been drawn to International Special Needs Adoption.  Quite honestly, other than the desire to have no birthparent involvement after adoption, I couldn't have  imagined why someone would want to go thru the process.  Then...

Several months ago I saw a posting for a little guy with Down Syndrome who needed a family and none were coming forward.  How is that possible?  There are so many families looking for children with Down Syndrome and I know when one is looking for his or her family, many will apply no matter the cost.  This little guy was across the ocean.  His picture lead me to Reece's Rainbow.  So many children waiting for their forever families to find them.

Not long after I started becoming acquainted with Reece's Rainbow the story of Kyle took the wind right out of me.  Kyle was a baby born with Down Syndrome in a country that treats the disabled as if they are not human.  He was one of the "lucky ones" as he was in an orphanage that took good care of their babies.  He received therapy and was doing well.  Kyle had a family committed to him but that wasn't to be.  No one was allowed to adopt Kyle because his country shut the door.  As happens to many children with special needs in orphanages in other countries who have no one coming for them, Kyle was transferred to a mental institution.  He was neglected and abused for months before this poor, sweet angel could take no more.  Kyle now flies with the angels.  Here is Kyle...so sad :(

How many more will suffer as Kyle suffered?  Why do people think this is okay?  I tell you this, it is NOT okay.

I know it is not possible for everyone to adopt.  You don't have to adopt in order to help.  You can help fund a grant for a waiting child on Reece's Rainbow, you can help fund a family currently making their way thru the adoption process for a child or children overseas.  You can also share this information with everyone you know.  Sometimes these children's families find them when someone shares the information.   You just never know.

Share on Facebook, Twitter, your blog, email friends and family, members of your church.  Get the word out there.  This is important and life saving!
